SAIL Expands Capital Region Footprint
Southern Adirondack Independent Living (SAIL) is proud to announce the expansion of its services in the Capital Region with the opening of a new Albany County office at 1873 Western Avenue. This marks a major step in strengthening SAIL’s presence and impact across New York’s North Country and Capital Region.
Founded in Glens Falls in 1988, SAIL serves 17 counties, providing support that empowers people with disabilities and older adults to live independently and fully in their communities. The Albany office comes as the agency was awarded the Capital Region contract for the Regional Resource Development Center for the Nursing Home Transition and Diversion (NHTD) Waiver and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Waiver—contracts SAIL already holds in the Adirondack Region, where the agency has a proven track record of helping individuals both avoid nursing home placement and transition successfully back into the community.
“This expansion builds on the work we’ve been doing in the North Country and allows us to reach more people across the Capital Region who want to live independently,” said Tyler Whitney, Executive Director of SAIL. “Our focus is on removing barriers and providing the supports people need to live with dignity and choice—whether that means staying in their own home or transitioning back into the community from a nursing facility. SAIL is here to help people not just live in the community, but thrive in it.”
The Albany County office will be SAIL’s fourth location, joining its main campus in Queensbury and regional offices in Saratoga Springs and Plattsburgh. Services of the waiver program include service coordination, home care, home modifications, day programs, and connections to community-based resources—all designed to promote independence, choice, and self-determination.
SAIL looks forward to strengthening its impact in the Capital Region and continuing its nearly four-decade legacy of advocacy, empowerment, and community-building.
