SAIL empowers people of all ages with disabilities to live independently by providing support, resources, and advocacy.

As a consumer-controlled, cross-disability, non-residential center, we promote dignity, equality, and choice in every aspect of community life. We serve people with all physical and mental disabilities of all ages—along with their families, caregivers, educators, employers, government agencies, service providers, volunteers, medical professionals, and civic organizations—whether living independently, in supported housing, institutional settings, or elsewhere.

1990

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law. It prohibits discrimination and guarantees that people with disabilities have the same opportunities as everyone else to participate in the mainstream of American life – to enjoy employment opportunities, to purchase goods and services, and to participate in State and Local programs and services.
