SAIL’s Adaptive Mural Promotes Access and Inclusion Through Art

Southern Adirondack Independent Living (SAIL) is proud to announce the launch of its Adaptive Mural, created by local artist Hannah Williams, a traveling piece of accessible public art designed to bring inclusive, community-centered art to Warren, Washington, and Saratoga Counties. The mural was funded through the Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council (LARAC).

Designed with accessibility at its core, the Adaptive Mural will travel throughout the region, appearing in community spaces to expand access to the arts for people of all abilities. The mural features sound, braille, and texture. Community members are invited to visit the mural at SAIL’s Queensbury campus and follow SAIL on social media for updates on where the mural will travel next.

“Access goes beyond programs—it includes culture, expression, and visibility,” said Tyler Whitney, Executive Director of SAIL. “This adaptive mural brings accessible art directly into our communities, creating shared experiences and reinforcing that everyone belongs in public and creative spaces.”

SAIL invites municipalities, libraries, schools, nonprofits, businesses, and community organizations throughout Warren, Washington, and Saratoga Counties to host the Adaptive Mural as it travels across the region. Hosting the mural offers partners an opportunity to support accessibility and inclusion through public art while engaging their communities in a meaningful and visible way.

Partners interested in hosting the mural can reach out to the agency’s Director of Community Relations, Cam Cardinale at camc@sailhelps.org or via phone at (518) 292-9070.

This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council.
